What it does

Lets the government make rules that recognise certain foreign diplomas and other credentials for some permanent resident applicants, after consulting the provinces.

What it does

  • Applies those rules to foreign nationals applying for permanent resident visas as federal skilled workers, or in another class named in an instruction under the Act.
  • Requires the Minister of Employment and Social Development to consult the provinces and the Minister of Labour before making the recommendation.
  • Defines a Canadian educational credential as a Canadian secondary school diploma or a post-secondary credential from a recognised institution regulated by provincial authorities.

Who it affects
