C-388Boosting Canadian Energy and Mining Projects and Ukraine's Munitions Supply Act
An Act to fast track energy and mining projects and to facilitate the provision of munitions to Ukraine and develop its munitions industry
Private member's bill, introduced in the House of Commons on May 2, 2024
- Status
- At second reading in the House of Commons since May 2, 2024
What it does
Requires a plan to fast track energy and mining projects and changes federal rules to help send munitions to Ukraine.
What it does
- Requires the Natural Resources Minister, with provincial natural resources ministers, to prepare within 60 days a detailed plan to fast track energy and mining projects, including LNG and civilian nuclear energy.
- Says the plan must include measures to replace energy exports from hostile countries and support energy cooperation with allies and partners.
- Requires the Defence Minister to review Canada’s defence supplies and offer Ukraine any surplus or no longer useful items while any part of Ukraine is occupied by Russian forces.
- Allows certain munitions that can be exported to the United States to also be exported to Ukraine under the same terms, if they are otherwise excluded from the Export Control List.
- Extends a general brokering permit so it can cover brokering certain munitions for import into Ukraine and end use in Ukraine.
