What it does

Allows psilocin and psilocybin to be used for medical treatment and makes some priority review requests for new drugs automatically approved.

What it does

  • Allows psilocin and psilocybin to be treated as narcotics for the Narcotic Control Regulations, so they can be used for medical treatment under those rules.
  • Excludes psilocin and psilocybin from the definition of “restricted drug” for Part J of the Food and Drug Regulations.
  • Adds the same restricted drug definition to the Food and Drugs Act, again leaving out psilocin and psilocybin.
  • Deems a request for priority review of a new drug submission to be granted when it is for psilocin, psilocybin, or a substance with a similar chemical structure.

Who it affects

  • People seeking psilocin or psilocybin treatment
  • Health care practitioners
  • Drug makers
  • People filing new drug submissions
  • Health Canada
